I’m not dramatic at all! Ok I can’t quite get away with that…

When I first started writing Dawn of Fire, I relied heavily on music to help inspire the world I was creating. I went through phases with different pieces of music, different moods, instrumentation and so on. But the more I listened, the more it helped me to jump into the story.

There is nothing like a cinematic orchestrated piece to help you feel like you are in the midst of the intense scene your writing. Or a quiet cello piece to put you in the mind set of a calmer moment. Whatever it was, there was always a piece of music that went with it!

So of course, I want to share a few of my favorites!

At the top of my list is Jennifer Thomas. I absolutely fell in love with her amazing cinematic piano/orchestrated pieces! If you have never listened to her music I cannot recommend it enough!! My top three favorites are:

Jennifer Thomas

“The Fire Within” The Fire Within

“Etude for the Dream” Illumination

“Illumination” Illumination

Next up on my list would have to be some of the more popular classical music pieces. But hey, they’re popular for a reason right?

Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Piano Sonata No. 14 by Beethoven Moonlight Sonata

Cello Suite No. 1 by Bach

Clair de Lune by Debussey

And last but certainly not least, some of my favorite pieces from cinema! I love teaching on the music in movies because not only are some of them absolutely fantastic, but man do they spark my creativity!! The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe soundtrack is probably my all time favorite overall soundtrack, but there are so many great ones out there! So here are a few of my favorites!

“Evacuating London” The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe

“The Wardrobe” The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe

“Lucy Meets Mr. Tumnus” The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe

“A Narnian Lullaby” The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe

“From Western Woods to Beaversdam” The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe

“The Battle” The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe

“Into Eternity” Thor: The Dark World

“The Burning Bush” The Prince of Egypt

Now, there are soooo many more amazing soundtracks out there, but instrumental music is what I listen to when I write, and these are the pieces that inspire me! I will definitely be doing a post before too long on the songs that have inspired me through the years that I don’t necessarily use while I’m writing, but are still very important to me!

I’m curious, what music inspires you? Did any of the songs above strike a chord? (Yes pun very much intended)

  1. I must thank you for the efforts youve put in penning this site. I am hoping to check out the same high-grade blog posts by you in the future as well. In fact, your creative writing abilities has motivated me to get my very own blog now 😉

  2. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the internet
the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while
people think about worries that they plainly don’t know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could
take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
